That is so true! I recently met a woman who argued with me about "wandering spirits", and she had no (ZERO) Bible verses to back up her statements. She took everything she said from a couple of books she had read and said she'd never felt closer to Christ before in her life. "Excuse me? Which christ are you referring to, because the Christ in the Bible is someone different!" I see this all too often, unfortunately. People would reather believe anything that tickles their ears rather than study the Word of God and find out the TRUTH!
